Hengaw : Last week, a Kurdish student was arrested in Tehran by the security services of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred to one of the security detention centers in Urmia.
According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Friday, April 30, 2021, Viyan Mohammadi, a management student at the University of Tehran and a native of Marivan district of Kurdistan Province was arrested by IRGC intelligence forces in Tehran.
According to an informed source, 18 IRGC intelligence forces raided Viyan Mohammadi's home in Tehran and, in addition to harassing her family, detained Ms. Mohammadi, searched her home, and confiscated her personal belongings such as computers, cell phones, and books.
A relative of Mohammadi's family told Hengaw that Viyan Mohammadi was first transferred to Evin Prison Detention Center in Tehran and then to the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Urmia.
The source further stated that the reason or reasons for the arrest of Viyan Mohammadi are still unknown and her family's efforts to contact her have been fruitless.
It is worth mentioning that Faramarz Mohammadi, the husband of Viyan Mohammadi, was also arrested on Saturday, January 9, 2021, during the mass arrests of Kurdish citizens in January 2021 and was transferred to the Sanandaj IRGC Intelligence Detention Center. He was released from prison on a 300 million Toman ( $12000) bail after nearly 4 days being in custody .
