Milad Zohrevand, a resident of Malair city and a participant in the Women, Life, Freedom Revolution, was secretly executed at the Hamadan Central Prison. The execution, influenced by the Revolutionary Guards, has led to the complete militarization of the atmosphere in Malair city.
According to reports obtained bu the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Milad Zohrevand, a 21-year-old from Malair, was sentenced to death under the false charge of "killing a government force" named Ali Nazari during the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi Revolution. The execution took place at dawn on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
An informed source revealed that the execution was conducted in secrecy, without prior notification or a final meeting with the family. Since this morning, government armed forces have been deployed in public places in Malair city.
Hengaw strongly condemns the secret execution, emphasizing that it not only violates the right to life but also egregiously infringes upon the human rights of the detainee and his family. The lack of prior notification and the denial of an opportunity for a final farewell demonstrate a blatant disregard for humanitarian principles and fundamental human rights.
In a previous report warning about the jeopardy to Milad Zohrevand's life, Hengaw highlighted the pressure exerted by the IRGC, which took over the representation of Ali Nazari's family, the security guard killed during the protests against Milad Zohrevand. The IRGC demanded the execution of Zohrevand's death sentence without the explicit consent of Nazari's family.
Milad Zohrevand, along with five other individuals, was arrested by IRGC forces on Thursday, October 27, 2022, during public protests in Malair city. Subsequently, he was sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred from Malair Central Prison to Hamadan Central Prison for the execution of the death sentence.
Hengaw had initially reported the arrest and death sentence of Milad Zohrevand, expressing condemnation and concern while calling for immediate attention from human rights organizations.
It is noteworthy that Milad Zohrevand was deprived of access to a lawyer, visits, and other basic rights during his entire detention, a violation even according to the minimum laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
