An informed source revealed that he ingested pills, and he is currently in critical condition under medical care at "Khomeini" hospital in Ilam.

Earlier, on Monday, January 8, 2024, Vahid Chavaran received a twelve-year imprisonment sentence and was ordered into exile to Zahedan by the 1st branch of the Ilam Revolutionary Court.

Having endured torture to extract a coerced confession during his detention, Vahid Chavaran took a drastic step on Sunday, September 3, 2023, by sewing his lips as a symbolic protest within the detention center.
