17-year-old girl commits suicide due to her family’s opposition to her marriage

Hengaw : A teenage girl from Piranshahr ended her life because of her family's opposition to her marriage .

According to a report received by Hengaw  Human Rights Organization, on Monday, April 26, 2021, a 17-year-old girl from the village of "Kawpar" in the Piranshahr district of West Azerbaijan(Urmia) province , identified as "Jiner Purdian", ended her life by hanging herself  due to her family's opposition to her marriage .

According to statistics recorded by the Statistics and Documentation Data Center of Hengaw  Human Rights Organization, since March 20 (nearly 40 days) at least 16 women in different cities of Iranian Kurdistan have ended  their lives, three of whom were under 18 years old.
