Following 53 days of detention, the editor of the Mukrian News Agency is still being held

After 52 days since his detention, the fate of Masoud Kurdpour, a Kurdish journalist and former political prisoner remains uncertain.

After 52 days since his detention, the fate of Masoud Kurdpour, a Kurdish journalist and former political prisoner remains uncertain.

The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights received a report stating that Masoud Kurdpour was taken into custody on September 20, 2022. The journalist was held for four days before being transferred to the detention center at Urmia's intelligence department, according to the information Hengaw received, and is currently being held in the city's central prison.

This former political prisoner has been accused of undermining national security. According to an informed source, Mr. Kurdpour's lawyer has requested several times to see his client from the relevant authorities during his detention, but he has not yet been granted permission to see him.

It should be noted that Masoud Kurdpour is an experienced journalist from Kurdistan who has previously been detained and jailed for his numerous activities in this sector. He is also the editor of the  Mukrian News Agency.
