Kurdish activist, Kazhal Watanpour is still in custody and her case is in abeyance one month since her arrest due to the refusal to accept the bail of 280 million tomans  ($9,000) set for her temporary release by the Iranian judicial officer.

Based on the report received by the Hengaw human rights organization, the refusal of this female activist’s bail who is accused of propaganda against the system, community, and collusion against national security and cooperation with the media is based on the argument of the judicial authority that more time is needed for the investigation and handling the case.

Earlier, Hengaw reported that Kazhal Watanpour, a female Kurdish activist from Gilan-e-Gharb, Kermanshah province, and a graduate student in law at Ilam University, was arrested on Thursday, September 22, 2022, during the protests in  Ilam and was later transferred to the women's ward of Ilam Central Prison and she is still kept in custody there.
