Hengaw : A young woman from Urmia has been  killed by her brother and father and her body was set on fire under the pretext of “ Honour “ .

According to a report received by Hengaw  Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, a 32-year-old woman from the village of Gangchin in Soma Biradost region of Urmia, identified as "Eshrat Nikkhoei", has been brutally murdered by his family members under pretext of "preservation of honor."

According to a well-informed source from Urmia, Eshrat Nikkhooi's brother and father first killed her and in another heinous act set her body on fire.  The burnt body of this woman is currently kept in the forensic medical center  of Urmia.

The source further stated that Eshrat was married and the mother of three children, who had divorced her husband some time ago and returned to her father's home after release of a private video of her relationship with another man.

According to the statistics registered in the Statistics and Documentation Data Center of Hengaw Human Rights Organization, since the beginning of March 2020 , at least 7 women in Iranian Kurdistan have been killed by their family members under the pretext of “ Honour “ .
