Bassam Moradi , Kurdish political prisoner sentenced to 10 years in prison has been transferred from Kamyaran Prison to Sanandaj Prison

Hengaw: A Kurdish political prisoner from Kamyaran, who had gone on strike in the city's central prison in protest of his situation, has been  transferred to Sanandaj prison.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization Bassam Moradi, a Kurdish political prisoner from Kamyaran who had been serving a 10-year sentence in the city's central prison, was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison on Saturday, May 29, 2021.

The political prisoner had been on a hunger strike in Kamyaran Prison since Tuesday, May 26, to protest the non-observance of the principle of segregation of crimes. He ended his strike after being transferred to Sanandaj Prison.

Bassam Moradi was arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Service in Kamyaranon Monday, April 29, 2019, and was released on a 500 million Toman ($2500) bail after 8 months of detention.

He was finally sentenced by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj to 5 years in prison in late February 2019 for membership in the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) and to 10 years in prison for espionage, which 10 years of the sentences is applicable.

Bassem Moradi was finally arrested in April 2020 after the verdict of the Court of Appeals was finalized and he was transferred to Kamyaran Prison.
