Kurdish civil activist, Baran Saedi’s fate stays unknown since her arrest

The fate of Baran Saedi, a Kurdish civil rights activist from Sanandaj, is still unknown 50 days after her arrest.

The fate of Baran Saedi, a Kurdish civil rights activist from Sanandaj, is still unknown 50 days after her arrest.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Baran Saedi, who was arrested on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in Sanandaj, is still in abeyance.

She was arrested at her house, and after the completion of the interrogations, this civil rights activist was transferred to Sanandaj Correctional Center by the Iranian government forces.

According to Hengaw’s sources, her detention order has been extended once, and she has been denied access to a lawyer and meetings with her family during the entire period of detention.

Also, this civil rights activist has been taken to the detention center of the Iranian Intelligence Department for questioning on several occasions.

According to a source close to the Saedi family, the Iranian government agents have interrogated her and have pressured her to obtain a forced confession due to the membership of one of Baran Saedi's children in one of the Kurdish political parties.
