Iraj Rahimzadeh, 44, a civil and environmental activist from "Ravar" village of Sarvabad and  living in Marivan, who was detained two weeks ago, was severely tortured by security forces in the detention center of the Intelligence Service.

Hengaw was informed that Iraj Rahimzadeh had a short phone call with his family in recent days, and when he said he had been severely tortured in the detention center of the Marivan Intelligence Office, his call was cut off, which caused concern for his family.

"Despite the constant pursuit of Rahimzadeh's family, they have not been able to meet with Iraj and he has been deprived of access to a lawyer," a relative of Rahimzadeh told Hengaw.

Iraj Rahimzadeh was arrested on Saturday, May 28, 2022, following a raid on his house by the Marivan Intelligence Service, without providing any court documents.

Hengaw has informed that besides arresting the environmental activist, security forces also searched his house and confiscated his mobile phone and other personal belongings.
