Senur Tamara, Female Kurdish citizen from Turkey, sentenced to 10 years and 1-day imprisonment by the Iranian judiciary in Urmia

Hengaw: A Female Kurdish citizen from Turkey, who was arrested by Iranian security forces in fall 2020, has been sentenced to prison by the Iranian judiciary.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Senur Tamara, a Kurdish citizen from Turkey who is currently being held in Urmia Central Prison, was sentenced by the First Branch of the Iranian Islamic  Revolutionary Court in Urmia to 10 years and 1 day in prison on charges of "membership in the Kurdistan Workers' Party(PKK)."

According to an informed source,  Senur Tamara’s trial was held online on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, without the presence of a lawyer, and the sentence was officially notified to her on Saturday, July 3, in the women's ward of Urmia Central Prison.

Senur Tamara has been physically and psychologically tortured and abused in the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Intelligence Detention Center in Urmia for the past six months and was transferred to the women's ward of Urmia Central Prison in spring 2021.
