The arrest of Jalal Vafaee for serving his prison sentence

Hengaw: An activist from Bukan, West Azarbayijan, who had previously been sentenced to imprisonment by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was arrested for serving his sentence.

According to a report received by the Hengaw, Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, Jalal Vafaee, an activist from Bukan, was arrested by security forces to serve a five-month sentence and transferred to the city's central prison.

According to an informed source, Jalal Vafaee was detained by security forces while, per court order, his sentence had to start on December 13, 2021. 

Jalal Vafaee was arrested by the Bukan County Intelligence Office forces on Thursday, July 15, 2021, without any warrant and got temporarily released from prison after a three-week in jail. He was released on bail of 300 million Toman.

According to a verdict handed down by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Peyman Rostami, this activist was sentenced to five-months imprisonment on charge of "propaganda against the regime" to support the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran.
