Five Years Confinement for a Kurd Citizen in Urmia

Hengaw: A Kurd citizen in Urmia was sentenced to confinement on charges of cooperating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties in Iran.

On Thursday October 4 the trial of Eqbal Ahmadpour son of Mohammad from Anbe was held in the third branch of Revolutionary Court of Urmia, based on the report of Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights.

The Revolutionary Court of Urmia sentenced the Kurd citizen to 5 years of none-suspended confinement on charges of collusion with the purpose of threatening the country's security by cooperating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties in Iran.

"The Kurd citizen was denied the right to have a lawyer and after 20 days of arrestment was sentenced to confinement.", a source with information said.

Eqbal Ahmadpour was arrested on September 12 by the intelligence forces in Urmia. He is in ward 13 of central prison of Urmia now.
