Hengaw – Friday, July 4, 2025

In June 2025, at least 99 prisoners were executed across prisons in the Islamic Republic of Iran — an 800% increase compared to June 2024, when 11 executions were recorded.

The Statistics and Documentation Centre of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has confirmed the identities of 88 executed prisoners, while the identities of 11 others are still under investigation.

In last month, at least 16 political and religious prisoners were executed. Among them were Mojahid Korkor, an arrestee from the “Woman, Life, Freedom” (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement; Majid Masibi, Mohammad Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh, Esmail Fekri, Idris Ali, Azad Shojaei, and Rasoul Ahmad Rasoul — all charged with “espionage for Israel”; as well as Hafizeh Baluchzahi and eight men (whose identities are still under review) executed for “membership in or cooperation with Islamist extremist groups.”

Additionally, at least two women were executed in Qom and Ghezel Hesar (Karaj) prisons — one for religious group membership and the other for premeditated murder.

Notably, out of the 99 executions, only 19 cases were officially announced by state media or judiciary-affiliated websites. Furthermore, 17 executions were carried out secretly, without notifying families or allowing a final visit.
