Kurdish civil activist Ali Allahveysi Sentenced to Imprisonment

Ali Allahveysi, a former Kurdish political prisoner and civil activist from Sanandaj (Sine), has been sentenced to one year and six months of imprisonment by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ali Allahveysi was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mostafa Azizi. He received a one-year prison sentence for “membership in the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan” and an additional six months for “propaganda against the state.”

The hearing to address the charges against Ali Allahveysi was held on November 12, and the official verdict was delivered to him on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

Ali Allahveysi was previously arrested by security forces at his workplace in Sanandaj on Sunday, July 14, 2024. After a period of detention, he was temporarily released on bail pending the conclusion of his trial.

It is noteworthy that Ali Allahveysi has been arrested and imprisoned multiple times in the past for his civil activism. He has completed his sentences and been released from prison on several occasions.
