January protest detainee Nima Shiri sentenced to prison, exile and flogging

Nima Shiri, a Kurdish man from Ashkhaneh in North Khorasan province has been sentenced by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to one year in prison, one year of exile in Zahedan and 74 lashes. He was detained during the January protests.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 106 of the Ashkhaneh Criminal Court II, presided over by Judge Moradi, sentenced the 21-year-old Shiri to one year in prison, one year of exile in Zahedan and 74 lashes.
Shiri was arrested by government forces in Bojnurd on January 4, 2026, during the January protests.
He was released two days later on bail pending the completion of judicial proceedings.
