Six prisoners executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj

The death sentence of at least six prisoners, including an Afghan national named Abdolbari Pakouhi, and five other inmates identified as Hassan Ali Yousefi, Majid Jamshidi, Sohrab Ahmadipour, Farzad Norouzi, and Rastgouyi Kandelaj, was carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, early Wednesday morning, December 18, 2024, Majid Jamshidi, a resident of Delfan, Lorestan; Sohrab Ahmadipour, 73, from Kuhdasht, Lorestan; Abdolbari Pakouhi, an Afghan national; and three others named Hassan Ali Yousefi, Farzad Norouzi, and Rastgouyi Kandelaj were hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
As announced by the state judiciary, Rastgouyi Kandelaj had been arrested six years ago following complaints from several women in Tehran alleging "assault and physical harm with a lash." He was sentenced to death on charges of "spreading corruption on Earth through terrorizing women and injuring them."
Hassan Ali Yousefi, Majid Jamshidi, Sohrab Ahmadipour, and Abdolbari Pakouhi were previously arrested and sentenced to death on charges related to drug-related offenses.
Farzad Norouzi, another executed prisoner, had been arrested on charge of premeditated murder and was ultimately sentenced to death.
