At least six prisoners executed in five Iranian prisons

At least six prisoners have been executed in recent days in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz and prisons in Semnan, Dehdasht, Dezful, and Ilam. They had previously been sentenced to death or qisas (retribution in kind) on charges related to “drug offenses” or “premeditated murder.”

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Bahram (Qahreman) Keshavarzi, from Beyza County, was executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz at dawn on Monday, August 24, 2026. He had previously been arrested on charges related to “drug offenses” and sentenced to death.

Hamed Emami, 39, and Mohammad Ali Kaffashi, 42, both from Semnan, were executed in the city’s Central Prison on Sunday, August 23. The two had been arrested two years earlier in the same case on charges related to “drug offenses” and sentenced to death. Their executions were carried out secretly and without their families being informed.

Navid Mohammadpour, from Charam, was executed the same day in Dehdasht Central Prison in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province. He had been sentenced to qisas on a charge of “premeditated murder.”

Morad Noureh, a 43-year-old Lor from Dezful, was executed in Dezful Central Prison on Wednesday, August 19. He had been arrested four years earlier on a charge of “premeditated murder” and sentenced to qisas.

Mohsen Zarouni, a Kurdish prisoner from Kuhdasht, was also executed in Ilam Central Prison. He had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to “drug offenses.”

The executions of the six prisoners have not been announced by state media, including outlets affiliated with Iran’s judiciary.
