Idris Haji Rasoulpour, a member of the “Justice-Seeking Families” and brother of Mohammad Haji Rasoulpour, killed under torture during the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement, along with Hemn Ebrahim Hamzeh, both residents of Bukan, have been sentenced to three months of imprisonment.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the Bukan Criminal Court, Branch 101, convicted Idris Haji Rasoulpour and Hemn Ebrahim Hamzeh, 38, each to three months of imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state.”
Hemn Ebrahim Hamzeh, from the village of Qara Gol, and Idris Haji Rasoulpour, from the village of Alikand, were arrested on May 9, 2024, following a raid by security forces on their family homes. The arrests were reportedly linked to their participation in Kurdish New Year (Newroz) celebrations. Both were later released on bail pending trial.
Idris Haji Rasoulpour is the brother of Mohammad Haji Rasoulpour, a 57-year-old former political prisoner who passed away on December 19, 2022, after five days in a coma caused by severe torture at a security detention facility in Bukan. Hengaw previously reported that security forces had subjected him to intense physical abuse and deprived him of water for three weeks, which ultimately led to his death.
