Prisoner executed at Lakan Prison in Rasht

The death sentence  of a Kurdish prisoner, Sirus Jafari, from Kermanshah was carried out at Lakan Prison in Rasht. He was previously sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Sirus Jafari, a 45-year-old resident of Kermanshah, was executed in Lakan Prison in Rasht.

The prisoner had been arrested on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death.

Hengaw had earlier reported the execution of another prisoner on the same day, identified as Shirali Tarkeshband, a 53-year-old resident of the village of “Siyacheqa” in Sahneh. He, too, had been arrested and sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

As of the time of this report, news of these executions has not been announced by state-affiliated media, particularly those linked to the judiciary.
