Three prisoners including two Afghan nationals, executed in Isfahan and Mashhad Prisons

The death sentences of two Afghan nationals, Mohammad Shah Achakzai, and Rahim Achakza, along with Majid Esmaeili, were carried out in the central prisons of Isfahan and Mashhad. The prisoners had been convicted of charges including premeditated murder and drug-related offenses.

According to reports received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, in the early hours of Thursday, December 12, 2024, the death sentence of Majid Esmaeili, a 30-year-old resident of Isfahan, was carried out  in Isfahan Central Prison. 
Esmaeili was arrested three years ago following a street altercation that resulted in a fatality. He was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran.

On the same day, Mohammad Shah Achakzai, 22, and Rahim Achakzai, 24, both Afghan nationals residing in Mashhad, were executed in Mashhad Central Prison on charges related to drug offenses. The two men were arrested two years ago and sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of the time of this report, the executions of these individuals have not been publicly announced by state-controlled media or judiciary-affiliated outlets.
