Death sentence of prisoner carried out in Urmia Central Prison

The death sentence of Kurdish prisoner, Loqman Aqdami-Nia, also known as Loqman Shangeh, was carried out in Urmia Central Prison. He had been sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran on drug-related charges.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Loqman Aqdami-Nia, a 45-year-old from Naqadeh, was executed at dawn on Monday, December 23, 2024.
Mr. Shangeh was transferred from Naqadeh Central Prison to Urmia Central Prison two days prior to the execution.
He was arrested six years ago on charges of drug offenses and subsequently sentenced to death.
As of the time of this report, Iranian state-affiliated media and judiciary outlets have not officially announced the execution.
