Detailed report on the execution of prisoner for the premeditated murder of two environmental officers

The death sentence of Amin Farahmand, a 34-year-old resident of Fars Province, was carried out after he was convicted of the premeditated murder of two environmental officers. He had been sentenced to two counts of qisas (retribution in kind) by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution took place at dawn on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in Central Prison of Shiraz.
Judiciary-affiliated media reported that Amin Farahmand was arrested two and a half years ago for the murder of Mohammad Farahmand, an environmental officer, and Reza Bahrampour, an environmental volunteer. He was convicted and sentenced to two executions by Branch 3 of the Criminal Court of Fars Province.
The incident reportedly occurred during an encounter over illegal hunting in the protected Darreh Bagh area of Bavanat County. Farahmand was accused of killing the two individuals during the confrontation.
In addition, a 31-year-old individual identified as Farahmand’s “accomplice” in the incident was also arrested in connection with the case.
