Laleh Sa'ati, a recent convert to Christianity who was detained approximately two months ago and held in custody at Evin Prison, has been sentenced to two years of imprisonment and additional penalties by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Laleh Sa'ati, a 45-year-old resident of the Ekbatan neighborhood in Tehran, was recently convicted of "activities against national security through association with Zionist Christian organizations" by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari.
The verdict includes a two-year prison term and a two-year "ne exeat" sentence. The ruling has been formally communicated to Sa'ati's legal representative.
Laleh Sa'ati was apprehended by intelligence forces in Tehran on Wednesday, February 13, 2024, and subsequently transferred to Evin Prison.
