Iranian court sentences Baha’i adherent Nahid Behrouzi to five years in prison and additional penalties

Nahid Behrouzi (Forouhari), a Baha’i adherent from Fardis, Karaj, in Alborz Province, has been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to five years in prison along with additional penalties.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 4 of the Karaj Revolutionary Court convicted Behrouzi on the charge of “sectarian propaganda contrary to Islamic principles”.
As part of the supplementary punishment, the court also imposed a ten-year deprivation of social rights and ordered the confiscation of her seized property, including electronic devices and religious literature.
The verdict was recently issued by Branch 4 of the Karaj Revolutionary Court and was officially delivered to Behrouzi on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Behrouzi was initially arrested on July 29, 2024, during a raid by Intelligence Department agents on her home in Fardis, Alborz Province. She was transferred to Kachouei Prison in Karaj on August 15, 2025, after interrogation at the Intelligence Department’s detention center, and later released on October 1, 2024, after posting bail.
