Four prisoners at Arak and Karaj Prisons Executed

Death sentences for four prisoners, namely Javad Askari, Ali Reza Aghaei, Pezhman Azizi, and an inmate known as "Shahram," previously convicted of premeditated murder and drug-related offenses, were implemented at Arak and Karaj prisons.

According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, three inmates—Ali Reza Aghaei, aged 35 and a resident of Eslamshahr, Tehran province; Pezhman Azizi; and the inmate identified as Shahram—were executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

It was reported that Ali Reza Aghaei had been sentenced to death five years ago for premeditated murder, while Pezhman Azizi and Shahram faced the same fate for drug-related offenses.

Simultaneously, Javad Askari, a prisoner from Arak convicted of premeditated murder, had his execution sentence carried out at the Central Prison of Arak.

The news of these executions had not been disclosed in government-affiliated media outlets, particularly those aligned with the government, at the time of compiling this report.
