Kurdish Father and Son Arrested by Iranian Security Forces

Luqman Zangi (Arab) and his son, Siamand Zangi, were arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Oshnovieh, West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Wednesday, September 4, 2024, 52-year-old Luqman Zangi, from the village of "Kani Surak" in Oshnovieh, and his 22-year-old son, Siamand Zangi, were arrested by security forces during a raid on their family home. The raid was conducted without the presentation of a search warrant.

Despite the Zangi family’s efforts to ascertain the fate of Luqman and Siamand, their attempts have been unsuccessful, and security institutions have refused to provide any specific information regarding their situation.

As of the time of publishing this report, the reasons for their arrest and the charges against them remain unknown.
