Seven prisoners executed in Karaj prisons

In the past two days, at least seven prisoners, including two Kurds, were executed in prisons of Karaj, Alborz Province. These individuals had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses and premeditated murder.

According to reports received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at least three prisoners — identified as Mohammad Jalali from Kermanshah, Saman Anbari, and Mostafa Gholamzadeh from Yazd — were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

Sources informed Hengaw that Mostafa Gholamzadeh had been convicted of drug-related charges, while the other two prisoners, held in Rajai Shahr’s special ward, had previously been convicted of premeditated murder and sentenced to death.

Additionally, at dawn on Tuesday, October 29, four prisoners — identified as Mohammad Nedaei, Ali Akbar Akhayer, and Akbar Khorram Taj — were executed in Karaj Central Prison.

All three, Mohammad Nedaei, Ali Akbar Akhayer, and Akbar Khorram Taj, had been arrested six years ago on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death.

Hengaw had previously reported the execution of another prisoner, Marvot Ali Karami, from the “Balavand” region of Kermanshah, who was executed at dawn on Tuesday in Karaj Central Prison.

As of the time of this report, news of these executions has not been disclosed by state media, including those affiliated with judiciary.
