Two prisoners executed in Sari and Rasht prisons; three others at imminent risk of execution

The death sentences of two prisoners, identified as Ali Khalili and Reza Radmand, who had previously been sentenced to death in separate cases on drug-related charges, have been carried out in Sari and Lakan Rasht prisons. Meanwhile, three other prisoners—Hamid Lorestani, Ahmad Moradi, and Mohammad Bahari—are at risk of execution.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, February 27, 2025, the death sentence of Ali Khalili, a prisoner from Mashhad who had been sentenced to death four years ago on drug-related charges, was carried out in Sari Central Prison.
Furthermore, about a month ago, the death sentence of another prisoner, identified as Reza Radmand from Tehran, who had been arrested on drug-related charges was carried out in Lakan Rasht Prison.
According to informed sources, three other prisoners—Hamid Lorestani and Ahmad Moradi, both Kurdish men from Kermanshah, and Mohammad Bahari from Varamin—who have been sentenced to death on drug-related charges, are now at imminent risk of execution in Lakan Rasht Prison.
As of the time of this report’s publication, the execution of these two prisoners has not been announced by state-run media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
