Afghan prisoner secretly executed in Borujerd Central Prison

The death sentence of Salman Hamdard, an Afghan national, was secretly carried out at Borujerd Central Prison in Lorestan Province, without granting him a final meeting with his family. He had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, 30-year-old Salman Hamdard, a native of Uruzgan, Afghanistan, was executed in Borujerd Central Prison.

He had been arrested three years ago on drug-related charges and was later sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His execution was carried out without allowing him a final visit with his family.

As of the time of this report, no state-affiliated media, particularly those linked to the judiciary, have announced his execution.
