Political prisoner Mohsen Langar-Neshin executed a on charges of “Espionage for Israel”

Hengaw: Wednesday, April 30, 2025
The death sentence of Mohsen Langar-Neshin, a political prisoner from Nowshahr in Mazandaran Province, who had been convicted of “espionage for Israel” following a non-transparent judicial process, was carried out at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the 34-year-old was executed at dawn on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. He had been transferred to solitary confinement earlier this week and received his final family visit the day before his execution.
Mizan News Agency, the official outlet of Iran’s judiciary, confirmed the execution, claiming Langar-Neshin had been arrested for espionage and alleged involvement in the assassination of IRGC commander Hassan Sayad Khodayari in Tehran.
Hengaw strongly condemns the execution, emphasizing that Langar-Neshin was sentenced to death through a deeply opaque process that failed to meet basic international standards for a fair trial.
Langar-Neshin was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence on July 3, 2023, in Tehran. He was subjected to 43 days of physical and psychological torture before being transferred to Evin Prison, where he spent 12 months in Ward 209, the ministry’s detention facility, before being moved to Ward 4. On February 16, 2025, he was transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison.
In 2024, Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati, sentenced him to death on espionage charges. All three of his retrial requests were denied.
During his imprisonment, Langar-Neshin was subjected to sever torture aimed at coercing false confessions. Hengaw has obtained a 22-minute audio recording in which he describes in detail the methods of torture used against him and the fabrication of the case through forced confessions.
