Three prisoners executed in Zanjan and Karaj Prisons

The death sentences of three prisoners, including two Kurdish men, were recently carried out at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj and Zanjan Central Prison. The prisoners had been convicted on charges of premeditated murder and drug-related offenses.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Rouhollah Moradiani, a Kurdish man from Kuhdasht, and Maziar Karimi, a resident of Tehran, were executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
Separately, on Sunday, May 4, 2025, Hassan Mirzaei, another Kurdish prisoner from Kangavar, was executed in Zanjan Central Prison.
Mirzaei had been arrested four years ago on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death. Moradiani had been imprisoned for five years on similar charges, while Karimi had been convicted of premeditated murder.
None of the executions have been officially announced by state-affiliated media or judiciary-linked outlets.
