Execution of Behrooz Fathollahi carried out in Ilam Central Prison

The death sentence of Behrooz Fathollahi, a Kurdish prisoner from Ilam, was carried out in the city’s Central Prison. Fathollahi had previously been arrested on charges of premeditated murder and subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution took place on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

 Sources familiar with the case reported that Fathollahi was arrested approximately five years ago and had been awaiting execution following his conviction.

The execution has not been officially announced by state media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
