Sanandaj – Four Teachers’ Union members summoned after call to support dismissed educators

Iran’s FARAJA Intelligence summoned, interrogated, and threatened four members of the Sanandaj Teachers’ Union: Loqman Afzali, Salah Haji Mirzaei, Majid Karimi, and Nasrin Karimi, following a call to support dismissed teachers in Kurdistan.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the four were summoned at dawn on Thursday, August 28, 2025. They had recently been targeted with heavy disciplinary rulings by the Ministry of Education.
The summons came after the Committee to Support Dismissed Teachers called for a protest hiking march in Sanandaj.
The march was held on Friday, August 29, 2025, and drew a large turnout of residents, civil activists, and mountaineering groups. Participants voiced support for teachers and denounced what they described as harsh and unjust rulings against educators in Kurdistan.
