Iran executes nuclear expert Dr. Roozbeh Vadi for alleged collaboration with Mossad

The Islamic Republic of Iran has carried out the death sentence of Dr. Roozbeh Vadi, a nuclear engineer and researcher at the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute affiliated with the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. He had been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of “intelligence cooperation in favor of Israel.”
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Dr. Vadi, 40, was executed in secret at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj early hours on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He was denied the right to a final visit with his family.
Dr. Vadi held a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering with a specialization in reactor systems from Amirkabir University of Technology. At the time of his arrest, he was working at one of Iran’s most sensitive nuclear research centers.
According to Mizan News Agency, the official outlet of Iran’s judiciary, Vadi “was employed at a key and sensitive national institution, was extensively involved in disrupting public order, and provided intelligence regarding one of the assassinated Iranian nuclear scientists to the Mossad.” He was identified, arrested, and later sentenced to death by the judiciary.
Mizan further reported that the death sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court following an appeal.
