Kurdish prisoner Rahman Ali Akbari executed in Kermanshah

Iranian authorities have executed a Kurdish prisoner from Kermanshah (Kermashan), identified as Rahman Ali Akbari, in Dizelabad Prison. He had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Akbari, 35, from Angaz village in Kermanshah Province, was executed at dawn on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in the city’s central prison.
He had been arrested five years earlier on drug-related charges and was later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
The execution has not been reported by state media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
According to statistics recorded by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 152 prisoners were executed in Iranian prisons during August 2025. Of these, 24 — representing 16 percent — were Kurdish prisoners.
