Hengaw – Tuesday, February 17, 2026

The death sentences of eight prisoners have been carried out in prisons in Shiraz, Qom, Tabriz, and Neyshabur. They had previously been sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary in separate cases on charges of “premeditated murder” and drug-related offenses.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions of Asghar Esmaeili, 36, from Farashband; Vahid Karami, 35, from Isfahan; and Einollah Rahimzadeh, 30, from Kazerun, were carried out at dawn in Adelabad (Shiraz Central) Prison on February 15, 2026. Esmaeili had been in detention for about two years following a fatal street altercation, Karami for four years over a deadly workplace fight, and Rahimzadeh for approximately three years in connection with a street clash that resulted in murder charges.

On the same day, February 15, 2026, two other prisoners — Farzad Fazli, 26, from Tehran, and Davoud Ghafouri, 30, from Shahriar — were executed in Qom Central Prison. Fazli had been sentenced to death three years earlier on a murder charge, while Ghafouri had been on death row for about two years on similar charges.

Continuing the same day’s executions, two prisoners identified as Sadeq Manafi and Hassan Doosti, who had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges, were executed in Tabriz Central Prison.

In a separate case, Mojtaba Amini, 27, from Neyshabur, was executed in Neyshabur Prison at dawn on February 9, 2026, after having been sentenced to death earlier on a charge of premeditated murder.

These executions have not been announced by state media outlets, including those affiliated with the judiciary.
