Iranian authorities hold 17-year-old Bahareh Golchin incommunicado in Mashhad

Iranian authorities have held Bahareh Golchin, a 17-year-old girl from Mashhad, incommunicado for more than 40 days following her arrest, with no information provided about her whereabouts or legal status.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the girl was arrested on February 14, 2026, by forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mashhad.
Sources familiar with the case stated that Golchin was arrested while distributing leaflets related to memorial ceremonies marking the fortieth day after the deaths of individuals killed during the recent protests.
Despite repeated efforts by the Golchin family to obtain information from judicial and security officials in Mashhad, authorities have not disclosed the charges against her or the exact location where she is being held.
