Hossein Pedran executed in Isfahan on charges of ‘spying for Israel’

Iranian authorities have secretly executed Hossein Pedran, a 41-year-old information technology professional sentenced to death on charges of “spying for Israel,” at Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd Prison).

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Pedran, a resident of Isfahan, was executed at dawn on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Mizan, the Iranian judiciary’s official news agency, confirmed the execution and stated that Pedran had been sentenced to death on charges of spying for Mossad and Israel. The outlet claimed that a search of his home uncovered a notebook containing classified information related to missile programs and several encrypted storage devices.

The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights strongly condemns the opaque judicial process and execution of Pedran and warns of the growing use of the death penalty in Iran in cases involving national security charges.

Hengaw has learned that Pedran was arrested in Isfahan in June 2025. Iranian judicial authorities and the judiciary’s media center accused him of “espionage and intelligence cooperation on behalf of Mossad,” “transmitting information about military and missile sites in Isfahan,” and “receiving payment.”

An Isfahan Revolutionary Court sentenced Pedran to death, and the Supreme Court upheld the sentence after his appeal was rejected. Although the judiciary claimed that a lawyer was present during the proceedings, authorities have disclosed no details about the sentencing branch, the duration of his interrogation, the lawyer’s identity, his access to independent legal representation, or the documented evidence supporting the accusations. The proceedings remained entirely opaque.

Pedran was a website specialist and business consultant and worked as an expert at the Isfahan-based knowledge-based company Gostarsh Tarahan Naghsh Almas (iNoti).
