Hengaw – Monday, May 25, 2026

Iranian authorities have secretly executed Abbas Akbari Feyzabadi, a young protester from Naein in Isfahan Province who was arrested during the January 2026 protests. With his execution, the number of detainees executed in connection with the protests earlier this year has risen to at least 15.

Based on reports obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Akbari Feyzabadi was executed at dawn on Monday, May 25, 2026, in Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd Prison).

Mizan, the official media outlet of Iran’s judiciary, confirmed the execution in a published statement and accused Akbari Feyzabadi of “moharebeh” (waging war against God), “intentional destruction of public property with the aim of confronting the state,” “disrupting public order and security,” and “opening fire.”

The statement claimed that Abbas Akbari Feyzabadi had acted as an “armed leader” during protests held on January 8 and 9, 2026, in Naein and had participated in attacks on the governor’s office and other government institutions while allegedly firing a handgun.

According to statistics recorded by Hengaw’s Statistics and Documentation Center, at least 15 detainees arrested during the January 2026 protests have so far been executed in prisons across Iran.

Hengaw Organization for Human Rights strongly condemns the execution of Abbas Akbari Feyzabadi and considers the issuance and implementation of death sentences against protest detainees a clear example of state-sanctioned killing aimed at intimidating society and suppressing the people’s legitimate right to protest.

Hengaw once again calls on the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate and decisive action to halt Iran’s execution machine and confront the deadly repression of protesters.
