Iran reaffirms death penalty against Kurdish political prisoners

Hengaw – Iran decided to enforce a death sentence against Sabir Shekh Abdullah and Diako Rasoulzadeh after long-term imprisonment on Wednesday, charged with Moharebeh (waging war against god), said Hengaw reporter.   The two Kurdish prisoners were arrested on 2015 with another Kurdish citizen, Hassan Osmani. They have been accused by Iranian security forces of cooperation with Komala, a Kurdish political party, and preparing an explosion attack in the city of Mahabad in 2010.   The three prisoners have been sentenced to death long after imprisoned, though none has been executed. Osmani’s sentence was cancelled later by Supreme court.   The recent reaffirmation of death sentence against Shekh Abdullah and Rasoulzadeh comes after a forced televised-confession of the two prisoners. They were reportedly forced to agree to a TV confession under harsh torture.   The televised- confession was not in accordance with the Iranian authorities’ previous claim, saying that the perpetrators of the Mahabad attack were killed during an operation right after the explosion.
