3 Kurdish citizens detained and transferred to prison to serve their sentences
Hengaw : In recent days, 3 citizens from Bukan and Urmia of West Azerbaij
Hengaw : In recent days, 3 citizens from Bukan and Urmia of West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province in Iranian Kurdistan who were previously sentenced to prison by Iranian judiciary, have been detained and transferred to prison to serve their sentences.
According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Sunday, January 24, 2021 , Salar Chavoshi, a resident of Haji Lak village in the Chum mMajid Khan Khan region of Bukan, was detained to service his to 6 months imprisonment sentence.
Salar Chavoshi was detained by Iranian Intelligence Service on Monday, August 31, 2020, and was released on bail after being interrogated.
This citizen was finally sentenced to 2 years prison by 101st Branch of the Criminal Court in Bukan in October 2020 on charges of "propaganda against the regime and cooperation with the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran." This sentence was reduced to 6 months in 13th Branch of the Provincial Court of Appeals in December 2020.
On Tuesday, January 19, 2021 an other Kurdish citizen from Bukan identified as "Fouad Mohammadpour" was detained along with a large wave of detention of Kurdish citizens, l has been transferred to Bukan Prison to serve his sentence.
Fouad Mohammadpour was detained by Iranian intelligence service in Bukan on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, and was sentenced by Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Bukan ,headed by Judge Rostami, to 3 years in prison on charges of "membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran." In December 2020, his sentence was reduced to 6 months in prison by the provincial court of appeal.
Also on Saturday, January 16, 2021, an other Kurdish citizen from Urmia, identified as Hassan (Rahman) Barati, a resident of Bavan village, was detained to serve his six-month sentence and transferred to the Urmia’s central prison.
Hassan Barati was detained by Iranian intelligence service on June 30, 2019, along with 3 other citizens from Urmia, was sentenced to 5 years in prison 3rd Branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Urmia, presided over by Judge Reza Najafzadeh, on charges of collaborating with the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
This sentence was later reduced by the First Branch of l Court of Appeals in Urmia from five years to 6 months in prison.
