Azadeh Yaghoubi sentenced to three years and six months in prison

The Mashhad Revolutionary Court has sentenced Azadeh (Masoumeh) Yaghoubi, a detainee from the January 2026 protests held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, to three years and six months in prison. Despite suffering from Crohn’s disease, prison authorities have denied her access to specialized medical care.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Yaghoubi was recently notified of the sentence, issued on the charge of “assembly and collusion with the intention of acting against national security.”

Informed sources told Hengaw that Yaghoubi’s health has deteriorated significantly due to inadequate access to essential medication, poor-quality prison food, unhygienic conditions in the ward, and inadequate medical treatment. She urgently requires hospitalization for a colonoscopy and specialized medical care.

Yaghoubi was arrested by security forces in Mashhad on January 24, 2026. She was initially held in solitary confinement at an Intelligence Department detention facility before being transferred to the women’s ward of Vakilabad Prison.
