Hengaw : Kamal Sharifi, a Kurdish political prisoner who has been imprisoned for 12 years without the right to leave ,  suffered from heart attack in prison two weeks ago, now has gone under surgery .

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Kamal Sharifi, a political prisoner and journalist from Saqqez, has gone under a  heart surgery in one of the medical centers in Minab of Bandar Abbas, and was returned to Minab Central Prison a few days later.

According to an informed source, Kamal Sharifi was returned to Minab Prison while the medical staff opposed his re-transfer to prison and demanded that he be monitored until he recovers completely.

This Kurdish political prisoner suffered a heart attack in Minab Central Prison on Monday, March 1, 2021, and was hospitalized in Abolfazl Hospital in Minab for four days.

Kamal Sharifi, 48, from Saqqez, was arrested by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards on Sunday, May 25, 2008, and was sentenced to 30 years in prison by First Branch The Iranian Islamic  Revolutionary Court In Saqqez , headed by Judge Shayek, on charges of "membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party."  Also He was sentenced to one year in exile.

It is worth mentioning that the trial of this journalist lasted only 5 minutes and he was able to talk to one of his lawyers only 3 minutes before the trial.

This political prisoner was severely tortured by Iranian government security forces during his detention.

Kamal Sharifi is currently serving the 13th year of his 30-year sentence in Minab Prison and has so far been denied leave.

This Kurdish citizen was also sentenced to two years in prison by the Saqez Revolutionary Court in 1991 for two years in prison on charges of supporting and collaborating with the Democratic Kurdistan Party.
