Former political prisoner Pouriya Ahmadi, his wife, and his 4-year-old child were arrested by government forces

On the Sanandaj-Marivan road, civil activist Pouriya Ahmadi, his wife Sahar Ahmadi, and their 4-year-old son Barzin were apprehended by the forces of the intelligence department. The arrest took place after these forces shot directly at their vehicle.
 
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Pouriya Ahmadi, a former political prisoner, along with his wife, Sahar Ahmadi, and their 4-year-old child, Barzin Ahmadi, were detained by Intelligence Department forces while travelling in a private car from Sanandaj to Marivan.
 
 
Four-year-old Barzin Ahmadi was reportedly released after 24 hours on Wednesday, August 11. According to an informed source, visible signs of torture were seen on his body. Authorities handed him over to Pouriya Ahmadi’s parents.
 
Hengaw has been informed that the government forces conducted a raid on this family's house yesterday and confiscated some of their personal belongings during a thorough search.
 
Comprehensive details regarding the charges against Pouriya Ahmadi and Sahar Ahmadi, as well as the circumstances and location of their arrest, remain undisclosed.
 
Pouriya Ahmadi, a former member of the Kurdistan branch of the National Unity Party, was previously arrested by government institutions in 2019 and 2018 and later sentenced to three months in prison.
