Mohammad Baroghani from Pakdasht city, who was detained during the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom)" movement and previously sentenced to death after accepting a retrial and referring the case to a court of equal rank, is now convicted of five years of penal imprisonment and endures ten years of exile.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the revolutionary court in Tehran, presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salawati, has determined Mohammad Baroghani's fate. The 19-year-old inmate, currently held at Ghezel Hesar prison, will serve five years of penal imprisonment and face ten years of exile in Naeen city, Isfahan.
Originally facing charges such as conflict with security forces, utilization of cold weapons, and instigating the governorship of Pakdasht city, Baroghani was initially sentenced to death in the 15th branch of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
Following the acceptance of the retrial, the case was reconsidered by a court of equal rank to the Revolutionary Court of Tehran.
Notably, after enduring one year and two months of imprisonment, the physical and mental condition of this young protester is reported to be critical.
Mohammad Baroghani was detained shortly after the commencement of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom)” movement on September 22, 2022, in Pakdasht city, Tehran. Subsequently, he was transferred from Gohardasht prison to Ghezel Hesar prison.
