Amol-based graphic designer Shaya Shahugh has been sentenced to five years in prison by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Shahugh, who was detained approximately two months ago and transferred to prison, was convicted by the first branch

Shahugh, who was detained approximately two months ago and transferred to prison, was convicted by the first branch of the revolutionary court in Amol, led by Chief Judge HassanZadeh.

According to reports obtained by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, Shaya Shahugh, a resident of Amol, was charged with "membership in anti-government groups," "conspiracy," "propaganda against the government," and "insulting the Supreme Leader." The cumulative sentence handed down is five years of punitive imprisonment.

Shaya Shahugh, known for his work as a graphic designer, had previously collaborated with various Iranian publications, including the monthly magazine "Nameh."

It is noteworthy that Shaya Shahugh was arrested on the 19th of September 2023, by security forces at his residence in Amol. The authorities conducted a search of his home, seizing personal belongings, and ultimately, he was transferred from the detention center in the intelligence office of Sari city, Mazandaran province, to Amol prison on the 18th of October 2023.
