Hassan Mardani, a resident of Bukan who endured nearly two months of detention this year, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.


According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the 65-year-old Mardani, hailing from Bukan, received the verdict from the 101st branch of the criminal court in this city, charged with "membership and cooperation with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan."

Notably, Luqman Pasyar, a 58-year-old from Bukan, arrested alongside Hassan Mardani, also faced a three-year prison sentence from the Revolutionary Court of this city on the charge of "membership and cooperation with one of the Kurdistan parties."

These two individuals were denied access to legal representation and family visits during their detention. 

Arrested by security forces in Bukan on Thursday, August 10, 2023, they were temporarily released from Bukan Central Prison on Sunday, October 8 of the same year, posting a bail of one billion Tomans until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
