The judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran carried out the death sentence of two brothers, Aref Ishaqzahi and Asif Ishaqzahi, in the central prison of Birjand, the capital of South Khorasan province.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, January 28, 2024, Arif Ishaqzahi (24 years old) and Asif Ishaqzahi (30 years old) from Zabul, Sistan-Balochistan province, were executed in Birjand Central Prison.

According to Haalvsh news agency, the execution of these two brothers took place secretly, depriving them of the right to a final meeting with their family.

Notably, the brothers, who lacked identification documents, were married and had been arrested two years ago. They were sentenced to death by the Birjand Revolutionary Court on charges related to drug-related crimes.
