Mokhtar Zarei, a journalist and civil activist in Sanandaj, has been sentenced to 3 years in prison

Hengaw: One of the civil activists and journalists living in Sanandaj was sentenced to 3 years in prison by Iran's judiciary.

Mokhtar Zarei was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj City, under the chairmanship of Judge Behrooz Sharifi Yousefvand.

Mr Zarei was sentenced to two years imprisonment for "insulting the leader of Iran" and sentenced to one year in prison for "propaganda against the regime". This civilian activist wrote in Instagram that the sentence was issued in absentia.

In the court decision, it is said that the ultimate punishment will be applied to this civil activist.

Mokhtar Zarei was arrested on Saturday, July 21, 2018, and after being summoned to the Sanandaj court, after 17 days of detention, he was released on bail of 200 million tomans.
